Dear Families,
As you know, providing a safe and secure environment for our students and staff is our highest priority in Peters Township Schools.
For our elementary schools, we provide online forms to allow students and parents to anonymously communicate any threat of danger they may be aware of or to report cases of bullying, drug or alcohol related issues, or other safety concerns.
For students in grades 7-12, the District joins with the 778 school districts and charter schools across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to provide Safe2Say
Something (S2SS). This anonymous reporting system, mandated under Pennsylvania state law/Act 44, teaches students in grades 7-12, teachers and administrators how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, of individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and Say Something to a trusted adult OR use the S2SS anonymous reporting system. Specifically, the program educates participants to:
- Recognize the signs and signals of at-risk behaviors – especially within social media
- Take every sign and signal seriously; act quickly to get help by talking to a trusted adult
- Report it anonymously through the S2SS program:
- Call the tip line: 1-844-SAF2SAY (1-844-723-2729)
- Use the website: www.safe2saypa.org
- Use the mobile app available for Apple and Android devices
Reported issues are quickly filtered through the 9-1-1 system and District Administrators depending on the nature of the issue.
Studies
continue to confirm that students in crisis often share this information with
their peers, and S2SS helps us to empower student to know the danger signs and
to quickly and easily share the information with a trusted adult or through the
S2SS outlets.
Additional details are available on the S2SS page of the District website: http://www.ptsd.k12.pa.us/Safe2Say.aspx
Please
note that the Safe School Tip forms currently in use will remain in place for
