Dr. Joseph Dimperio Named Acting Superintendent of Schools
At their October 15, 2012 Regular Meeting, the Peters Township Board of School Directors accepted the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Nina Zetty and named Dr. Joseph C. Dimperio as the Acting Superintendent of the Peters Township School District. He served in this same capacity for Peters Township in 2008, prior to Dr. Zetty’s appointment.
Dr. Zetty served the Peters Township School District as Superintendent since 2008 and joined Peters Township as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Instruction and Assessment in 2006. She will now lead the Gateway School District as Superintendent of Schools, effective December 1, 2012.
Dr. Dimperio brings more than 40 years of education experience to this post. He has previously served as the Superintendent of Schools for the West Mifflin Area School District and the Ambridge Area School District, as Interim Superintendent for the Carlynton School District and was the Associate Director for Staff Development for the Pittsburgh Public Schools. He began his career as a social studies teacher and his administrative experience also includes time as Principal and Assistant Principal in the Pittsburgh Public Schools and the Mt. Lebanon School District.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and history from Franciscan University, a master’s degree in history and a doctorate in education administration from the University of Pittsburgh, and a juris doctorate from Duquesne University.
