Student Handbooks

Copies of the Building Handbook are provided on the District website at the onset of the school year. In Grades 7-12, the social studies department reviews the content of these handbooks with the students. Please review the Executive Summary below for information on substantive changes made to the handbook for the current school year.

Handbook Executive Summary

The Peters Township School District Common Handbook serves as a comprehensive resource for students, parents/guardians, and staff. It outlines the policies, procedures, responsibilities, and expectations that support a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment across all District schools.

The handbook is intended to promote a shared understanding of school operations and student expectations while providing families with important information and resources for the 2026–2027 school year. The handbook includes notices required by School Board policy and applicable regulations, along with information related to attendance, academics, safety, student services, technology, transportation, health services, and other District procedures. It also includes the District’s Student Code of Conduct, which defines behavioral expectations, disciplinary procedures, and potential consequences for violations. The District does not tolerate bullying, cyberbullying, harassment, intimidation, or other behavior that interferes with a student’s ability to learn in a safe and respectful environment.

Because policies and procedures may be revised during the school year, the most recently adopted School Board policy will govern in the event of a conflict. Any significant changes will be communicated to students, staff, and families.

The major changes in the 2026–2027 Common Handbook reflect policy revisions adopted by the Policy Committee during the 2025–2026 school year. Specifically, updates were made to the sections addressing students' offcampus conduct (Policy 218) and exemption from instruction (Policy 105.2) to align with the revised policies. The handbook also provides information for parents/guardians regarding the process for requesting exemption from instruction when participation conflicts with their religious or moral beliefs, as provided by Policy 105.2.

Additional revisions were made to the Acceptable Use Policy and Student Code of Conduct related to the use and misuse of artificial intelligence (AI). The Volunteer section was also updated to include language regarding required clearances and confidentiality.

The handbook was further revised to reflect updated expectations regarding students' personal electronic devices, corresponding changes to the Student Code of Conduct, and the names and titles of current staff members.
